Aktiv Dödshjälp (Euthanasia) was founded
in January 2004 (?) by Tomas Nilsson.
There was anger and frustration and the drive to express them. The drummer, Samuel Öjring, got on board with the project only hours after its conception,and by the next morning the singer, Petter Johansson, had also joined the band. Two weeks later the band had a name, Aktiv Dödshjälp,and a six-song demo. The band had never met to rehearse before the recording. The record was sent around to a few record companies and two got back to the band;Halvfabrikat Records (semi-manufactured records) and Evigt Lidande Productions (Eternal Suffering Productions). In April, 2004, Aktiv Dödshjälp are releasing their demo, ”Allt hopp e ute” through Halvkass Produktion, and a split 7” is planned for release through Evigt Lidande. Tomas Nilsson Aktiv Dödshjälp April 2004 After a gig during 2006, Petter, Samuel and John chose to quit the band, for different reasons. At this time I saw the opportunity to make the ultimate Aktiv Dödshjälp record, something I couldn’t have done earlier because of separate opinions in the band. “Allt hopp e ute (All hope is gone)” was theme record, regarding anger, “En tid av smärta och förnedring (A time of pain and degradation)” was a record about bitterness and negative exposition, and the four tracks recorded for the Slaktattack split was about solitude. Having dealt with all these themes and having the ability to take this band to an entirely new level, I decided to write a concept album, something I had thought about for quite some time. Sonny Stark (Massmord) was asked shortly after the decision was made, if he was interested in taking the roll as the bands new singer, and he accepted. A concept about a single individuals broken upbringing, about the experiences from its childhood until its abrupt ending was beginning to take shape, at the same time as the first songs were written. Calle Larsson (ex-Kaos, Kris och Helvete) was contacted and he also accepted being a part of the band, and being a part of the new album.
