Åke, Chrille and Jögge started playing
together in the summer of ’81 with two other guys under the name Speedy
Snails.
“Back then, we played a kind of mix between hard rock and punk.”
At that time,
Chrille played bass guitar and Jögge was the singer.
“We started listening to more punk, for example The Dead Kennedys and we
wanted to change our style but we couldn’t get the others to want to play
more hardcore.”
Then Chrille had to switch to being a drummer and Jögge changed to the bass
guitar and after that the band Censur was created.
The band then
consisted of: Åke (guitar and singer), Jögge (Bassplayer,
singer) and Chrille (drummer).
As Censur, we
had two songs on the English collection cassette ”Grevious musical harm”
from Xentric Noise Tapes. The most musical influences came from British
bands such as Discharge, Varukers, Chaos UK, etc.
In the Autumn of ’83 Mentis entered the band as a singer, and we changed our
name to MOB 47. We recorded an 11 song cassette “Hardcore attack”. Now our
music style was more influenced by American hardcore bands such as Poison
Idea, M.D.C., Gang Green, Crucifix, Minor Threat and Jerry’s Kids… and even
other bands such as Terveet Kädet and Neos. In the beginning of ’84 Mentis
was fired from the band as we didn’t get along and MOB 47 became a 3 man
band again.
In April of ’84 we rented a Porta-studio and recorded 22 songs where of 9
songs came on the album ”Kärnvapen attack” which received pretty good
reviews in the American hardcore magazine ”Maximum Rock’n Roll”. There were
first 500 copies of the album produced, and afterwards another production of
1200. The album was reproduced of Uproar Records late sometime in ‘89. 4 of
the songs exist on the collection album “Really Fast 2”, and 7 songs on
Pushead’s collection album “Cleanse The Bacteria”.
All of MOB 47’s songs are recorded in the ”Bowlingstudion” which is really a
rehearsal hall that we had in a bowling alley that Åke’s parents owned. Åke
later bought a 4 channel Portastudio that was used for all of the
recordings. This mini studio was also used by Crudity, Röjers, Protes Bengt,
Discard and Svart Snö.
In 1985 we decided that we would make a cassette with a little “mangel” from
Stockholm, as at that time, there weren’t many hardcore bands in the
Stockholm area. MOB 47 and Crudity recorded in the “Bowlingstudion” and
Agoni at their own place and the collection cassette “Stockholmsmangel” was
released. According to some, it was that period of time that MOB 47 was at
their prime, we were unbelievably tight and played the really quick d-beat’s
“mangel”.
We now felt that we needed a lead singer and Robban joined the band. A few
rehearsals and recordings were done but Robban didn’t really have the same
burning interest as us other band members and he left the band after a few
months.
Tommy from Crudity took over as lead singer and we did some lovely gigs,
some outdoor concerts in Långholmsparken, but when Jögge later left the band
and we would search for a new bass guitarist, Åke and Chrille became bored
and ended the band.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
NOW 20 years later we are back together rehearsing and playing gigs.
Se upcoming shows. We did a "sneakprewue" on april 28. A little bit nervous
but it worked out good. AWESOM to be back on stage. New Setting with Johan
on the bass and Jögge/Jugga handles the mic. Åke keep on hitting the guitar
with his 300 bpm style. Chrille still pounding the shit out of the drums.
